Surprising Benefits Of Washing Dishes

Here's a random though.
                                  People hate washing dishes.
You come home, see a stack piled high and you dread the moment when you finally have to give in and get to cleaning.

Unpopular opinion, I think those people are crazy. Quite frankly, washing dishes is probably my favorite chores, followed by vacuuming and bathing animals. Its so calming (so long as you're not rushing to do them or your mom didn't just yell at you for 2 hours to get them done).
Think about it really quickly. (If you're actually going to do what I say, have someone read this to you or listen to the podcast version I produced of this blog). Close your eyes, imagine the warm/hot water running down your hands. The Dawn, or whatever dish soap you use, being poured onto the sponge, squishing the sponge, feeling the angles and turns of all the dishes you have. The satisfying feeling of making a greasy Tupperware squeaky clean. Look, if this isn't convincing enough for you, please, at you own pace, go wash some dishes. Even if you got none of these, at least you'll have the satisfaction of having clean dishes.

Washing dishes also has surprising health benefits, the Wall Street Journal reported findings of a study that was made at Florida State University in which 27% of the students saw a decrease in nervousness and 25% had increased mental stimulation after washing dishes.
Thanks to Little Things, we know that by hand washing dishes there are at least 7 benefits.

  1. Lowers Stress
  2. Fewer Allergies
  3. Relaxation
  4. Heightened Immune System
  5. Uses less water
  6. Better for delicate dishes
  7. Helps teach kids life skills
At the end of the day, we're all different. These things may not apply to you. However, as the timeless cliche goes. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

Until next time
