Why Holidays are Over Rated

Image
A holiday is a day where something is celebrated and people don't work. Which, quite frankly is UNTRUE, especially if you work in the food service or hospitality industry. During holidays, we're supposed to share and spend time together... But what do we actually learn from holidays? Except for some history that most people don't even know or care about, I say nothing. We learn absolutely nothing. Don't believe me? Let me break down a few of our (U.S.) federal holidays. January 1st: New Years Day    We start the year with food, fireworks, alcohol, watching some kind of countdown on your television with a bunch of friends, family, and/or strangers. What do we celebrate? Making it through another 365 or 366 days(leap year). 3rd Monday in January: MLK day Martin Luther King day celebrates the life and achievements of Dr.MLK Jr. MLK played a very important role in ending segregation. Here's Why I Didn't Smoke Recreational Marijuana In California

Random Thought.   What would happen if we were all able to smoke weed legally?      You would think that everyone and their mom would throw a smoke sesh on the beach or something... but no. It's really not that serious.     See, I went on a trip to California a few weeks ago, where Marijuana is legal for medical and recreational use. I visited several cities in the span of 4 days. I get smacked with the smell of weed more walking down the streets of Miami than I did in Cali.     While there, my girlfriend asked me if I wanted to smoke. I was totally down for the idea. Smoke and not get in trouble? I'm down!... Then she said the reason she didn't already get it for me is because once your name gets put into the systems you cant work for the government. Very quick

Random thought.                                                                                  Suicide is not just on TV.              Life has officially become a real Romeo and Juliet story. Thoughts like "I can't have what I want” or “Things aren't going my way so I will kill myself" directly influence the attitude of so many teenagers or young adults born between 1994-2005, also known as Generation Z.              While suicide has always been a real problem in the world, the frequency of Gen Z's suicide attempts has been increasing drastically. According to an article from Newsweek , "between 2005 and 2017, the rate of 12 to 17 year-olds who experienced a major depressive episode... rose by 52%." The worst part is that it doesn't look like it's going to get better any time soon. So what is suicide? Suicide is taking your own life. Several factors come into play when
